New Online Game called "Cart Me Away"
SHOP.COM recently introduced the new virtual shopping game called Cart Me Away™ which captures players’ imaginations with captivating scenarios while testing their shopping expertise and pricing knowledge. Each day players are given a daily spending amount and asked to pick the winning combination of products that best fit that day’s installment to the story. There is one right combination of products for each day, but players get three chances to make a perfect match. If they do, they receive instant shopping offers. And everyone who plays is automatically entered into a weekly drawing for a $1,000 shopping spree!
It’s Sex & the City meets The Price is Right, but only this time it’s the player’s story. I had fun playing a few days ago. My scenario was to do shopping for a dinner party that I was throwing for my friends and coworkers. I had to select the right items that would total a specific amount - around $1,100. The items varied between cases of wine, wine glasses, invitations, my party dress, lobster, candlesticks, serving trays, music, etc. After trying three times, I came very close to my target price and ended up about $13 over, but the cool thing is I was still entered into a weekly drawing.
The game runs for four weeks from May 1st through Saturday, May 26, 2007. Each week a new theme is introduced. There is no purchase necessary to enter or win.
To get started: Go to SHOP.COM and click on the Cart Me Away banner. Then, click on the "Get Going” button and fill out the short registration form. If you’ve already registered and played the Cart Me Away game, it’s even simpler. Just enter the email address you used to sign up and you’ll be logged in to play again.
Once the game begins, check out the demo to see how things work. It’ll show you how to add and remove products from the OneCart™. When ready, click “Let's Begin.” Read through the day’s story to see which products might best suit the scenario. Drag the products that seem the most likely suspects into your cart to try and match the daily total. Here’s a hint: Some products may be used on more than one day.
An informed shopper is a good shopper, so do your homework. To learn more info about any product shown, click the "i" icon next to the text in the product grid to call up a detailed description.
When you place products in the cart, the product title and a small photo will appear in the receipt area below the story. This keeps track of your goods and should help with making your daily guesstimates.
You can add as many products to your cart as you like. But if you have second thoughts, you can remove any item from your cart by clicking the trash can icon under the "remove" column.
When you think you’ve got the correct combo of products to match the desired daily total, hold your breath and click the “Add It Up” button.
If you’ve gathered the right products to match the daily dollar amount, you'll see a "Congratulations" message that includes a SHOP.COM rebate coupon for up to $20.00.
You’ll have three chances to guess the correct combination of products each day. But even if you lose, you could win. Everyone who plays Cart Me Away is entered into the Weekly Grand Prize Sweepstakes for a $1,000 SHOP.COM shopping spree! And, you can return to play a new round of Cart Me Away each day for more chances to win.
